Puerto Madryn will host the 9º World Symposium on Choral Music

Regresar
It was the city of Puerto Madryn, in the heart of Argentinian Patagonia, the place where the Welsh settlers first arrived in 1865 to inhabit the region and give it their strongest cultural identity: choral singing.

It is the same city, Puerto Madryn which will host the 9º World Symposium on Choral Music from August 3 to 10, 2011. Thus, Puerto Madryn will become, once more, the harbour to receive the arrival of choral singing from the world to Latin America, to spread Latin American music activities to the world.

The CIC Foundation organises the International Choir Contest since 1993 and it is the entity that signed an agreement with IFCM on June 25, 2008 to organise the Symposium, according to the decisions taken by the Board in the Assemblies of Taipei (July 2007) and Namur (March 2008).

We propose a different Symposium, in a small city that has a big heart to warmly lodge from the Patagonian winter the delegates from all over the world, who will have a chance to meet on every corner, every pub, every concert or conference, establishing a direct and friendly contact with other participants, in direct contact with Nature.

Our interest is to provide the participants with an artistic program of the highest quality selected by the Artistic Committee, formed by Teodora Pavlovitch (Bulgary), Lyn Williams (Australia), Phillip Brunelle (USA), Nestor Andrenacci and Daniel Garavano (Argentina), giving Latin America the opportunity to show itself to the world while receiving the world’s choral music.

The CIC Foundation has the strong support of the Association of Choir Conductors of the Republic of Argentina (ADICORA), whose President Ricardo DeNegri is a member of the Executive Committe of the 9º Symposium together with Michael Anderson (USA), Jeroen Schrijner (Netherlands) and Guillermo Paats and Daniel Garavano from Puerto Madryn.

The choirs interested in participating will be able to register from October 1, 2008 in our website www.fundacioncic.com/Simposio and, having been selected, will have the possiblity of widening their tours of concerts all over Argentina and other Latin American countries.

The choir singers and individual participants will also enjoy their free time appreciating the beauties of the region and sailing close to the Golfo Nuevo whales, walking side by side with the penguins in their natural reservation, climbing the hills of the Paleontologic Park of Bryn Gwin, enjoying the traditional Welsh tea or learning about the aborigen culture in our museums.

The door is open to other Argentinian regions to amaze at the Iguazu Falls, to ski in Los Andes mountains, to eat delicious barbacues or dance tango in Buenos Aires, to walk along the vineyards and taste the wines of Mendoza, Salta or San Juan, or to enjoy the unique landscape of the Perito Moreno Glacier or Ushuaia in Southern Patagonia.

The 9º WORLD SYMPOSIUM ON CHORAL MUSIC is on the move.
We invite you to join us in an exciting week of music and friendship “SINGING IN NATURE”.
